This is a transcript of a clinical tutorial on the active management of the third stage of labour (AMTSL). AMTSL is a combination of actions to speed the delivery of the placenta and prevent postpartum haemorrhage. Through these simple actions, trained providers can prevent postpartum haemorrhage and play a vital role in saving women’s lives. The objective of this film is to review the key steps of the active management of the third stage of labour and demonstrate them in the context of normal labour and delivery using the skills checklist.
