The lack of reliable statistics on pregnancy outcomes remains a challenge to the implementation of this community-based health care project. The management information system complements paper records. The current database can serve as a reference point for field staff to plan their program based on the number of pregnant women, their locations, and even to the extent of their gestational period in the target areas. The project managers used the information to design an advocacy program to raise awareness in the community and with policy makers. This database represents the opportunity to initiate a sound and reliable quantitative system of data management.
